Understanding the Difference Between MVA Driver Education Program Structured Lessons and Personalized Driving Lessons

Request Access to the Self-Serve Scheduling Portal

To request access to the self-serve scheduling portal, please ensure you meet the following requirements:

  1. You must have a Maryland-issued learner's permit.

  2. You must have completed Classroom Sessions 1 & 2.

  3. You must have paid or be ready to pay for the 6 hours of driving lessons required by the Maryland Driver Education Program.

Once these conditions are met, you can complete your request below.

Scheduling Portal Access Request

Requirements for Access to Scheduling Portal

Please note that immediate access to our scheduling portal is not available upon submission. Your request will be reviewed by our scheduling department, and access will be granted within 48 business hours (Monday to Friday, 10 AM - 4 PM). Be sure to check your email for a message from Student Services with the subject "Information Access."

To ensure your request is processed smoothly, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

  1. Payment: Payment for your lessons must already be made or you must be prepared to make the payment immediately.

  2. Classroom Sessions: You must have successfully completed Classroom Sessions 1 & 2, as mandated by Driver Services, a division of MDOT (MVA). If you have not completed these sessions, do not submit this request.

  3. Valid Learner’s Permit: A valid Maryland-issued Learner’s Permit is required. If you arrive for a lesson without your permit in hand, the lesson will be cancelled and you will incur a fee for the lesson .

Please note that the Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) lessons are structured and will be graded in accordance with the Maryland Mandatory Driver Education Program, which is governed and regulated by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).


These lessons are designed to meet the specific requirements set forth by the state and are part of the comprehensive curriculum that includes both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Your performance during these lessons will be evaluated based on state guidelines to ensure that you meet the necessary standards for successful completion of the Driver Education Program.


It is important to understand that the lessons are not just instructional but also assess your ability to safely and confidently operate a vehicle in real-world conditions, as required by Maryland law.

Under Maryland's MDOT (MVA) COMAR regulations, specifically COMAR 11.17.05.03 regarding Driver Education Programs, there is a statute of limitations of 18 weeks for the completion of the program.

Your driving lessons strictly follow the Maryland-required Rookie Driver Log as outlined by the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles Driver Education Program Curriculum.


This is not optional it is your responsibility to gain significant experience with your driving coach and to schedule lessons that align with your current skill level. Failing to do so puts you at serious risk of failing the program, which is a mandatory requirement by the MVA to obtain your MD Driver's License.

Instructions for Attaching Your Learner’s Permit:

  1. Take a clear photo of your Maryland-issued learner’s permit and save it to your photo library.

  2. Click "File," then select "Photo Library." Choose the saved image or take a new photo to upload.
